About Loomwright
A small practice, working carefully alongside the people who run things.
Back to HomeHow Loomwright Came About
Loomwright began from a straightforward observation: many small to mid-sized businesses in Thailand manage their operations on informal arrangements that worked well when the team was smaller, but become harder to maintain as the organisation grows or changes. The work of internal listening, performance conversations, and meeting cadence often falls to whoever has the capacity to manage it, rather than to a considered system.
The practice was set up in Chiang Mai to offer something specific: time-bounded, scoped operational consulting engagements that produce plain, usable documents. Not ongoing retainers, not advisory relationships, not licensing arrangements. A defined piece of work, a clear output, and then the client carries it forward independently.
The name Loomwright carries a deliberate reference — a loom is a working instrument for producing structured fabric from separate threads, and a wright is a person who makes or repairs something practical. The consulting work follows a similar logic: facilitating and drafting structures that a team can use, repair when needed, and adapt over time without external dependence.
Loomwright operates as a non-regulated operational consulting practice. The engagements do not constitute financial, legal, or professional advisory services of any kind. The work is modest in scope and clear in what it does and does not cover.

Our Working Approach
Mission
To support small to mid-sized businesses in reviewing and documenting their internal operating practices — through unhurried, scoped engagements that leave the team with something they can use independently.
Orientation
The consultant facilitates and drafts. Decision-making authority stays with the leadership team throughout. The output of any engagement is a working document, not a recommendation about what the organisation should do next.
Scope
Loomwright works specifically on internal survey design, performance conversation frameworks, and embedded operating cadence support. These are the only service areas offered. Nothing outside this scope is undertaken.
Independence
No referral arrangements, affiliate relationships, or post-engagement upsell structures are maintained. Each engagement is self-contained, and the client is not expected to continue working with Loomwright after it concludes.
The Team
David Liang
Lead Consultant
David facilitates working engagements and drafts the operational frameworks and survey instruments. He has spent several years supporting small businesses in northern Thailand to review and document their internal practices.
Nanthiwa Wattana
Operations Associate
Nanthiwa supports the scheduling, document production, and client communication for each engagement. She manages the working administration that allows the consulting work to stay focused and well-organised.
Prem Siriwan
Documentation Specialist
Prem reviews and edits the documents produced during each engagement to ensure they are clear, readable, and usable by the client team without the consultant present.
Working Standards
The practices below are not certifications — they are working commitments that shape how each engagement is conducted.
Scope Documentation
Every engagement begins with a written scope of one page or fewer, reviewed and agreed upon by both parties before any work begins. Nothing outside this scope is delivered without a revised document.
Data Handling
Personal data collected during engagements is held only for the duration of the engagement. Survey responses remain with the client. Loomwright does not retain identifiable employee data after the work concludes.
Conflict of Interest
If a potential conflict arises — for example, if a proposed client operates in the same space as a current engagement — this is disclosed before work begins and the client may decide how to proceed.
Output Ownership
All documents, frameworks, and working materials produced during an engagement are transferred to the client in full. No licensing arrangements, usage restrictions, or IP retention applies to the outputs.
Plain Language
Documents are drafted to be understood by the people who will use them, not written to display expertise. If a framework or survey is not clear to everyone in the leadership team, it is revised until it is.
Fixed Timelines
Engagements run to their defined timeline. If the scope is not achievable within the agreed period, this is discussed early and addressed before work continues — not quietly extended.
Operational Consulting in Northern Thailand
Small and mid-sized businesses in Chiang Mai and the surrounding region often operate with lean teams managing multiple functions. The people leading these organisations are typically capable and experienced, but the documentation of how the business actually works — how performance is reviewed, how the team is listened to, how decisions are tracked — often lags behind the pace of day-to-day activity.
Loomwright offers a narrow set of engagements specifically designed for this context. The work is non-regulated operational consulting: the drafting and facilitation of internal surveys, performance conversation frameworks, and operating documentation. Each engagement is priced in Thai Baht and structured to be useful within the resources of a small team.
The practice works with organisations at a point of considered review — teams that are ready to spend some focused time on how they operate internally, and who want a structured, collaborative process for doing so. The output is a document and a framework, not a recommendation about strategy or direction.

A short introductory conversation — by phone or video — is a reasonable place to start. There is no obligation to proceed, and the conversation itself may be useful regardless of what follows.
